Its varieties are also found in other parts of Europe and in the northern part of Africa and Asia. The leaves and roots of this plant have healing properties, so they have long been used in folk medicine. Chicory was already known in antiquity, when it was used to cleanse the body, remove toxins and treat skin ailments. Chicory is a component of grain coffee.
Chicory is rich in many vitamins and minerals: magnesium, manganese, iron, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, zinc, carotene, folic acid, vitamin B1, B2 and C. It contains inulin and a lot of fiber, which has a beneficial effect on the digestive and immune systems . It stimulates the appetite and has a positive effect on the work of the liver - supporting the secretion of bile. It increases the body's ability to create red blood cells and improves kidney function. Regular consumption of this drink strengthens the body's immunity, and thus also supports the fight against infections. It is recommended for people struggling with high cholesterol and diabetes, as well as women during lactation - it increases milk secretion.
Chicory can be eaten raw, cooked or stewed. We suggest eating chicory in the form of grain coffee. Cereal coffee with chicory (or tastes great with traditional and vegetable milk, with honey, sugar, xylitol or erythritol. It can be served with various spices, e.g. cinnamon, cardamom or vanilla.
